The New Metropolis
Series started 2022, Jonas Stoltz
In 1927, Fritz Lang brought to film a stylized futuristic city where a beautiful and cultured utopia exists above a bleak underworld populated by mistreated workers. As one of my favorite films, I used this as inspiration for this design series, focusing on complex machinery, hints of avant-garde architecture and a subtle teal-orange color palette.
Is our future heading in this direction? Will we become expendable labor to satiate the appetites of a controlling elite? Will we be humans?
